“When it comes to choosing your wedding theme, a good choice is something that you both love or connects you as a couple. And what better choice for those who love their music and gigs, then a heavy metal rock vibe?!”
“Held at the Engine Room in Digbeth, Birmingham, this was the perfect venue for our ‘Heavy Metal Wedding’ photoshoot, with it lending itself easily to the theme as it’s a popular live music venue. The stage itself made a great backdrop for the ceremony area, with the dark lighting adding to the atmosphere. As a lover of heavy metal & rock music myself, I wanted to add in lots of detailing into the styling, with the use of ‘Metal’ being an important element. Chains were added to the table centrepiece; the floor flower arrangements; bouquet and also for the napkins to add a bit of extra detail. A metal mesh frame was hung behind the sweetheart table, with a fab banner created by ‘Daydreamer creative Studio’. This had the phrase of ‘A Match made in Metal’, which would be perfect for any loved up metal loving couple on their wedding day! I wanted the flowers to look really vibrant against the dark setting, so I chose bright reds, oranges and purples which contrasted beautifully against the darker colours.”
“And what heavy metal theme is complete without skulls?! These were used as decor items and even as part of the buttonhole. A skull motif was created for the stationery design, with ‘Death metal’ fonts used to resemble those used for heavy metal bands. The invitation was designed to look like a gig ticket with a perforated RSVP section to resemble that of a real ticket. The table plan was also created to look like a festival line up with each table name being a heavy metal festival. Bunny Loves Evie also added small silver skulls to the gorgeous jewellery and bridal crowns she created, which looked amazing!”
“The beautiful black wedding cake was created by Amy Bakers Cakes, which had added skull detailing, studs & chains. Everything was edible including the classic ‘Devils horn’ salute that sat under the top tier. “
“Gem Wright Photography photographed the day and caught the atmosphere and vibe perfectly. The venue and overall mood was dark, but the bright colours of the flowers, neon tube lights and ‘Til’ Death’ sign popped in all of the photographs. Electric Blue Photos was the videographer and combined all the different elements of the shoot together in one really cool video. Both suppliers really bought the high energy of heavy metal music to life!”
“Scarlet-Tayla created the most beautiful outfits for our ‘Bride’ Lou and also a jacket for our ‘Groom’ Muz, who were our real model couple for the day. Both items were made out of black duchess satin with chunky gunmetal chains and ornate buttons. The dress also had a deep plunge neckline at both the front and back, a split in the skirt and also had pockets! Lou also wore a beautiful leather jacket by Niamh Designs, which had a striking embroidered heart design and the words ‘Til’ Death’.”
“Nicola Honey Artistry provided the hair and make up, opting for blown out vibrant fiery reds and rich burnt oranges to compliment Lou’s amazing blue eyes, accentuated with a playful sweep of black liner – her signature touch! Lou’s skin is dewy and radiant, with a hint of blush, and her lips boast a perfectly stained hue. For the hair, it was styled in loose curls for that fun and untamed vibe.”
“Electric Joy Ceremonies was our alternative and eclectic wedding celebrant, performing a hand fasting ritual with ribbons in colours which not only matched the colour scheme, but where each colour related to a family member. The addition of the chains during the ceremony was a little nod to their love of heavy metal, as was the listening to Metallica whilst they had a shot of whiskey. At every turn this ceremony was filled not only with their love for each other but with the music that unpinned their love story.”
